Million Dollar Question....
Why do they do it?
I've been fortunate enough to have met many pilots from different parts of the world. The one thing I always made sure to ask is why they do it, what inspired them to do it and why they continue to fly.
At first, the answers I received puzzled me. Some would say they do it because its “fun” and others would say they love it for its “seriousness”. The more I asked the question , the more different the answers.
I collected the data from these "mini" pilot interviews and analyzed it. The results were quite interesting. One could categorize their reasoning by age, experience and by the type of work they did now compared to what they would like to in future. The older and/or experienced Aviators almost all had the same answer, as did the younger and/or less experienced. Pilots from Continent A had reasons totally different from Folks from Continent B, while pilots from continent C had reasons same as to folks from continent A and B. I came to the conclusion that getting a single answer as to why all pilots do what they do is nearly impossible. I will however sharing the results of the answers i have received at a later stage. These results wont give you the single answer you seek but will highlight the more popular answers and perhaps bring you all the more closer to your true reason for becoming or wanting to become a pilot.
All I can say without a doubt is that the view from the cockpit is unbeatable.
